Double standard

"Israel" Got It Wrong

Posted: Updated:
Today Israel is being held to a higher standard. When it is attacked and has the audacity to defend itself, it is termed 'genocidal' by those who are not only quick but also pre-programed to cast the most disingenuous and inflammatory accusations that all too often extend far beyond the parameters of the issues at hand, but drift into the realm of crude anti-Semitism. Running in tandem to the most rancid terminology and vesting them with an element of validation are the likes of Secretary of State John Kerry and former President Carter's use of such freighted terminology as 'apartheid' and imbuing the current occupation of Palestinian territories with the grim misnomer as being akin to "colonization" (Please see "Jimmy Carter, John Kerry and Their Best Friends" 4.28.14)
The ongoing drumbeat seeks to put into question Israel's legitimization, to question the rationale of the Jewish people's presence in what is today the land of Israel, to cast it as a figment postwar contrition, created in response to the cruel events and experiences visited on the Jewish people in the 20th Century. What is progressively overlooked are the deep historical links of the Jewish people to what is now viewed as the Jewish presence in the land called 'Israel.'
Israel is a name understood by all Jews as coupled to their identification. Yet outside the Jewish community its resonance in historic terms is marginal and doesn't begin to encompass the totality of the Jewish historical ties to the history of the Middle East. The name Judea bespeaks clearly of the Jewish people's deep ties to the region itself, ranging from the Kingdom of Judah dating from 934 until 586 BCE, and thereafter to its numerous manifestations through the Babylonian, Persian, Hellenistic and Roman periods of domination. The Jewish revolt against the Romans in 132-135 CE failed but Judea has always continued deep in the consciousness of the Jewish people and is an especially epochal segment of Middle Eastern history as it is to Jewish history. The land of Israel is not a contemporary phenomenon but rather has ties that run deep into the core history of what we know and understand as the "Middle East."
The name "Judea" for the nation today known as "Israel" would make these profound and historical ties of the Jewish people to Judea with its storied presence in the history and traditions of the Middle East becomes compellingly clear to all.

A completely delusional Obama blames Israel, in UN speech. Unbelievable.
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2014/09/24/Obama-UN-speech
" After spending fifteen minutes blabbering about the glories and wonders of Islam, even as he decried extremism and sectarianism, Obama proceeded to blame Israel for conflict in the Middle East:

Leadership will also be necessary to address the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis. As bleak as the landscape appears, America will never give up the pursuit of peace. The situation in Iraq, Syria and Libya should cure anyone of the illusion that this conflict is the main source of problems in the region; for far too long, it has been used in part as a way to distract people from problems at home. And the violence engulfing the region today has made too many Israelis ready to abandon the hard work of peace. But let’s be clear: the status quo in the West Bank and Gaza is not sustainable. We cannot afford to turn away from this effort – not when rockets are fired at innocent Israelis, or the lives of so many Palestinian children are taken from us in Gaza. So long as I am President, we will stand up for the principle that Israelis, Palestinians, the region, and the world will be more just with two states living side by side, in peace and security.

The Israelis may not be the “main source of problems in the region,” but by pressuring Israel before the entire world just weeks after Hamas continuously fired rockets into Israel and shielded its own rockets with children, Obama demonstrates his distaste for the Jewish State, and his desire to cast them as a bleeding abscess leading to more violence. The moral equivalence here was stunning, unjustifiable, and purely disgusting."

An armed jihadist serial killer murdered at least four men in a killing spree from April through June as acts of “vengeance” for Muslims killed overseas by the United States, but his crimes were not covered extensively by the media.
After his apprehension by police, Ali Muhammad Brown describ

ed his June murder of Brendan Tevlin, 19, as a “just kill” and said it was revenge to compensate for U.S. military killings in the Middle East, according to court documents cited by the New York Daily News.
Brown was also charged with fatally shooting three men in Seattle. All four men were gunned down in remote areas late at night, reports said.
Brown is a devout Muslim opposed to U.S. military action in the Middle East, especially Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Iran, prosecutors said.
“All these lives are taken every single day by America, by this government. So a life for a life,” he told investigators.

Brown said Tevlin’s shooting was a “just kill,” because he directed his gunfire at an adult man and did not put any women or children in harm’s way.
In police interviews, Brown described U.S. military action in the Middle East as evil and said if a “man sees evil, then he must take action against that evil,” court documents revealed.
While he was on the run, Brown disguised himself in a Muslim keffiyeh, a traditional Middle Eastern headdress that became an iconic symbol when it was worn by Yasser Arafat as a symbol of Palestinian resistance.   He also carried a notebook with jihadist writings and advice on evading detection, according to TownHall.com.
In his statements and writings he echoed Fort Hood mass killer Nidal Hasan.
Officials said Brown fired 10 shots into Tevlin’s Jeep Liberty on June 25th when it was stopped at intersection in West Orange, N.J. Then he stole Tevlin’s car and drove it to a nearby apartment complex where it was

abandoned.
Brown was linked to the New Jersey shooting after police identified the weapon used as the same one used in several Seattle killings.
Police in Seattle said Brown used a dating application for gay men to lure Dwone Anderson-Young and Ahmed Said to a Seattle nightclub on June 1st before shooting them both at close range. Brown also shot and killed 30-year-old Leroy Henderson in April on a state road outside of the city.

Seattle’s mayor, Ed Murray, issued a statement asserting that Brown’s views did “not reflect the values of Muslims.”
Police apprehended Brown last month hiding in an improvised camp near the Watchung Mountains of West Orange, New Jersey.
Another militant Seattle jihadist, Muslim convert Ruben Shumpert (aka Amir Abdul Muhaimin) was arrested after an FBI raid in 2004 for his role in a terror-financing scheme. He fled his sentencing hearing and flew to Somalia, where he was killed fighting the U.S. military. Terror group al Shabaab described Muhaimin as a martyr following his death, according to TownHall.com.
Brown was also arrested in 2004 for his part in a Seattle bank fraud scheme. Police originally thought the accused crime ring shipped stolen money overseas to terrorists, but that claim was never backed up with enough evidence. Some believe Brown was part of Muhaimin’s suspected terror-financing ring.

Surprise: Hamas commits war crimes:
Evidence Growing that Hamas Used Residential Areas as Cover for Firing Rockets at Israel
Two weeks after the end of the Gaza war, there is growing evidence that Hamas militants used residential areas as cover for launching rockets at Israel. Ahead of a UN investigation, the Israeli military has released reams of evidence, including satellite photos and aerial footage, to support its claims that it acted responsibly and attempted to minimize Palestinian casualties.
Throughout the war, the Israeli air force compiled dozens of video clips showing rockets flying out of residential neighborhoods, cemeteries, schoolyards and mosque courtyards. There are also images of weapons caches uncovered inside mosques.
During the fighting, many observers witnessed rocket launches from urban areas. One video distributed by AP captured a launch in downtown Gaza City that took place in a lot next to a mosque and an office of the Hamas prime minister. "I don't think there's any doubt urban areas were used to launch rockets from the Gaza Strip," said Bill Van Esveld, a senior researcher at Human Rights Watch. (AP-Washington Post)s. UN investigates

UN stores Hamas missiles, UN ambulances transport around Hamas fighters, Hamas uses UN buildings to shoot from and near, Hamas uses human shields, Hamas builds terror tunnels, Hamas sends 10,000 missiles at civilians. DO NOT USE EBAY Pierre Omidyar, Glenn Greenwald, and Their War on Israel Gabriel Schoenfeld

DO NOT USE EBAY
Pierre Omidyar, Glenn Greenwald, and Their War on Israel Gabriel Schoenfeld

When it comes to Israel, The Intercept’s coverage crosses the line from opinion journalism to a crude and vile form of propaganda.
Published on September 9, 2014

Pierre Omidyar, founder and chairman of the auction site eBay, became a billionaire at the age of 31. Having made his fortune (his net worth is somewhere in the ballpark of $8 billion), the French-Iranian-American entrepreneur wants to give back. A decade ago, he established the Omidyar Network, an institution that is part venture capital and part philanthropy, to help businesses and nonprofits that share a “commitment to advancing social good at the pace and scale the world needs today.”

The only product of First Look Media thus far is The Intercept, an online publication whose three founding editors are Jeremy Scahill, Laura Poitras, and Glenn Greenwald.

When it comes to the Middle East, however, The Intercept’s slant becomes far more pronounced. While the war between Israel and Hamas was raging, for instance, it published around a half-dozen pieces about Gaza that proffered a one-sided view, to put it in the most generous possible terms.

In one of those articles for instance (“Cash, Weapons, and Surveillance: the U.S. is a Key Party to Every Israeli Attack“), we learn that the war, which in fact began with the Hamas kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers and then rocket fire from Gaza directed at Israeli civilian centers, supposedly began as the result of an “Israeli attack on Gaza.” The “aggression” was sponsored by the “indispensable, direct involvement of the U.S. government,” which “has long lavished overwhelming aid on Israel, providing cash, weapons and surveillance technology,” all of which “enable Israel’s military assaults” and its “massacres” of Gaza’s “trapped civilian population.”

In another piece (“Terrorism in the Israeli Attack on Gaza”) we are instructed that the term “terrorism” is much misused. Indeed, as applied to Hamas and the Palestinians, it is nothing more than a “fear-mongering slogan.” Israel is the party using “massive, brutal force against a trapped civilian population, overwhelmingly killing innocent men, women and children,” and if anyone deserves to be called terrorists, it is the Israelis. “The most generous claim one can make about what Israel is now doing in Gaza,” writes Greenwald in yet another contribution, “is that it is driven by complete recklessness toward the civilian population it is massacring.”

Augmenting this commentary is Greenwald’s prolific Twitter output (at last count, more than 48,000 tweets), in which his hatred of the Jewish state takes its most pristine form:

At no moment did Greenwald or The Intercept pause to make judgments about the rockets Hamas fired at civilian targets across Israel, the tunnels it constructed into Israel packed with motorcycles and weapons to kidnap and kill, Hamas’s use of hospitals and schools as military positions and ambulances to ferry fighters, or any of the other clear violations of the laws of war carried out by jihadi extremists in Gaza. To be sure, The Intercept makes no pretense of being a neutral news organization reporting on a war, but it cannot properly be called opinion journalism either; its one-sidedness is so flagrant and relentless that it easily traverses the line separating argumentation from propaganda.

The propaganda in question is a stream of venom and denunciation directed toward the democracy that is Israel, and a similar stream of extenuation and denial about the terroristic activities of Hamas and affiliated jihadist groups, while also maintaining a deafening silence about the various Islamic and secular butchers from Iraq to Syria to Libya who have turned much of the Middle East into a slaughterhouse.

Indiana congressional race pro Israel incumbent Walorski against pro terror candidate Joe Bock

Indiana congressional race pro Israel incumbent Walorski against pro terror candidate Joe Bock

Elections matter. Indiana Congressional district 2 pits very pro Israel
incumbent against very anti Israel pro BDS candidate. Support Warlorski (endorsed by the Protect Our Heritage Pac/ ( Midwest's largest pro israel pac) against Joe Bock. Israel and the world can't afford another anti Israel pro terrorist Congressman. Donations to https://donate.standwithjackie.com/ or jackiewarloski.com PASS this on to anyone who lives near South Bend

" As Jewish voters and supporters of Israel, it is our duty and responsibility to know who we voting for. In this information age we cannot allow facts to be buried.

The voters of Indiana's 2nd Congressional district (our neighboring South Bend Region) have a critical decision as we approach our 2014 election cycle. I know I do not want a congressional representative who believes culpability for global terrorism lies on the backs of Israel and the US. Such is the case as Professor Joe Bock from Notre Dame is challenging the current Representative Jackie Warlorski. While Rep. Walorski has been among Israel's finest supporters in Congress, Joe Bock has a history of supporting pro-Palestinian anti-Israel institutions including Al-Quds University, Caritas Internationalis, and the UN's Division for Palestinian Rights.

Professor Bock openly exclaims injustices towards Palestinians without ever acknowledging the systematic terrorism Palestinians have engaged in. Bock advocates "Preaching the Word," a Catholic social doctrine that applies biblical justice to the Palestinians. Bock was assigned Country Representative for Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Jerusalem-West Bank-Gaza program, and settled in East Jerusalem for 3 years, ending just before the 2nd Intifada. Bock's wife Susan Lyke, who is also outspokenly anti-Israel has written " I learned that Christians shouldn’t sit on the fence when (Israeli) injustice is at play."

Joe Bock and his wife Susan Lyke are members and supporters of Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA), a Palestinian Christian organization based in Jerusalem. FOSNA serves as the “voice for Palestinian Christians” against Israel’s policies and has been a driving force behind various Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns against Israel, including those initiated by mainline Protestant churches in the U.S. They employ a “Palestinian liberation theology” which is based on the premise that the Bible’s explicit descriptions of the land of Israel as belonging to the Jewish people must be repudiated and redefined. Friends of Sabeel’s agenda calls for the right of return for Palestinian refugees, an end to American policies that support and give aid to Israel, and active engagement in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign. Friends of Sabeel hosts large conferences on University campuses (including Notre Dame) featuring strong anti-Israel themes and speakers who accuse Israel of racism, oppression, and human rights violations. Their speakers have also depicted Israel as a systematically racist country comparing Israeli policies to Nazism. They outspokenly purport that the pro-Israel lobby is excessively powerful and that Israeli interests control the U.S. government’s foreign policy. Friends of Sabeel has similarly targeted high schools audiences throughout the U.S. in recent years. They sponsored an unsuccessful campaign in Minnesota against Israel Bonds stating it hoped their political efforts would be “replicated across the country to get state governments to pull their money out of investing in Israel.”

This Palestinian-Christian connection to other Christian groups is highly toxic, and a United States congressman that shares these views would have the ability to write and sponsor legislation that is very detrimental to Israel. How can we let this happen?

Does it even matter who is the "D" and who is the "R"? We can all agree that support for Israel must remain bipartisan. Although Bock is the "D" and Walorski is the "R" what matters is whether or not we can count on them to support, not vilify the only Jewish country.

In contrast U.S. Rep. Jackie Warlorski has emerged as one of Israel's strongest supporters. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, she has won bipartisan support for new measures increasing pressures on Iran. Upon returning from Israel last August Walorski stated “As Israel continues to experience constant terror threats from surrounding countries, the United States recognizes its special bond to Israel and is proud to be a strong ally. As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I believe it is critical that the United States continues to focus on Israel’s security, particularly from the growing nuclear threat in Iran, to help stabilize the region and protect our own national security interests.” Both parties have identified this seat as a key battleground in 2014.

With the rise of anti-semitism and Iran on the verge of nuclear power, we Jews are living in turbulent times that call for unity and action. How we respond to the detractors will determine how pro-Israel we are, REALLY.

  • Israeli Official: Hamas Has Begun Repairing Gaza Attack Tunnels - Barak Ravid
Israel has received intelligence indicating that Hamas has begun reconstructing the attack tunnels destroyed during the Gaza war, a senior Israeli official said on Sunday. The official said that Hamas has returned to arms smuggling through several tunnels under the Egyptian border. The official added that production of M75 rockets - capable of reaching Tel Aviv - has resumed inside Gaza, where, 40% of Hamas' capability to produce rockets remains intact. (Ha'aretz)
